The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police arrested Deepak Kumar Vishnoi, an MBBS student, on Wednesday for allegedly impersonating a candidate in the senior teacher recruitment exam conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) in 2022.

According to ADG (SOG) VK Singh, the accused, a resident of Jalore district, had taken the exam on December 24, 2022, at a government senior secondary school exam centre in Jodhpur. Vishnoi appeared in place of the original candidate, Durgaram Vishnoi, a 26-year-old from Barmer district, who had the roll number 2296286 but did not show up for the exam.

Deepak allegedly took the exam on Durgaram’s behalf after agreeing to a deal worth Rs 5 lakh. The case, which is registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022, was initiated following an investigation by the SOG.

Deepak had been on the run since May but was apprehended following ongoing investigations.
