A 38-year-old Nepalese national, Deepak Bahadur, wanted for allegedly killing his live-in partner and her nine-year-old daughter in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag, was arrested by police in Delhi on Monday.

The double murder came to light after local authorities received reports of a foul odor from a rented room on March 6. Residents noticed that Bahadur, who lived in the room with a 34-year-old woman and her minor daughter, had been missing for several days. Police discovered the locked room and, upon entry, found the decomposed bodies of the woman and child, suggesting the murders occurred several days prior.

“Bahadur was absent from the scene, leading police to suspect his involvement. A case was registered at Kotwali Rudraprayag Police Station on March 7, and an investigation was launched,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Akanksha Yadav.

During the investigation, Uttarakhand Police traced Bahadur’s location to Delhi and coordinated with local authorities to apprehend him. He is now in custody for further questioning, and the probe into the incident is ongoing.
