JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Valley News Live) — A Jamestown woman has been arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse after a 6-month-old infant reportedly suffered a serious injury while in her care.

Deborah E. Jespersen, 55, was arrested on Friday after Jamestown Police completed their investigation into an April 29 report involving a spiral arm fracture sustained by the infant. The injury occurred while the child was under the care of Jespersen, an unlicensed childcare provider.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Jespersen’s residence on Friday evening, seizing evidence related to the reported abuse. In addition to the felony child abuse charge, Jespersen is also charged with providing early childhood services despite having had her childcare license revoked.

She is currently being held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center, awaiting formal charges from the Stutsman County State’s Attorney.
