The Nayapalli Police arrested two men on Saturday in connection with a house robbery that occurred on November 17, 2019, at N-5, IRC Village, police said on Sunday.
The complainant, Rabindra Nath Mishra, reported that two unidentified men entered his home around 2 PM, assaulted him with a sharp object, and decamped with approximately 90 grams of gold ornaments, Rs2,000 in cash, and a cellphone.
Based on specific leads, police apprehended Debendra Choudhary, alias Lipu (43). During interrogation, Lipu reportedly confessed that Sanjaya Kumar Hati (56) had hired him and provided details about the complainant’s house.
Lipu also claimed that he had brought two others—Santosh Mallik of Pattamundai and Deepak Sutar of Fatepur—to carry out the robbery. According to him, the stolen valuables were later distributed among the group.
Following Lipu’s statement, police arrested Hati from his residence. Officers recovered a pair of gold earrings belonging to Mishra from Hati’s possession. Preliminary verification indicated that Hati has a criminal history.
