GREENVILLE, S.C. – A man has been arrested months after allegedly hitting a child with his car and fleeing the scene in the parking lot of a Greenville restaurant.
The incident occurred in May at Sacha’s Café on North Pleasantburg Drive, where Greenville police responded to reports of a child struck by a vehicle. Witnesses said the driver was recklessly speeding, hit the child, then backed into a parked car before driving away without stopping.
Although a witness was able to capture the suspect’s license plate, the driver’s identity remained unknown for some time. Investigators later discovered the suspect had made a credit card purchase nearby, which led police to execute multiple search warrants with financial institutions.
After two months of investigation, police identified the suspect as Dayquan Clark.
On August 14, Clark was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
Hit and Run – Failure to Render Aid
Reckless Driving
Driving Under Suspension
Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle – 2nd Offense
The condition of the injured child has not been publicly released. The investigation is ongoing.
