A labourer, Dilip Sharma, working at a resort in Kodagu district, was fatally stabbed at First Monnangeri in Madikeri taluk, police said. The accused, Dayanand Prasad, who is already facing charges in another murder case, was arrested in Bengaluru and produced before the local court. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
According to the Madikeri Rural police, Dilip, Dayanand, and Santosh Kumar, who were all employed as waiters, lived together at the resort. On November 7, around 8:30 p.m., Dayanand reportedly started a fight with Santosh over a financial issue. Dilip intervened, warning them that he would record the incident on his phone and inform the manager, which temporarily ended the fight.
However, Dilip was later found stabbed in the stomach and chest. He was initially taken to Madikeri district hospital and then shifted to a Mysuru hospital for further treatment but succumbed to his injuries on November 8.
A case has been registered under BNS 103 (01) at the Madikeri Rural police station. Police investigations are ongoing to understand the motive and circumstances of the attack.
