Dawn Johnson Arrested for 2018 Panera Wallet Theft in Westport

Philadelphia woman charged with larceny, payment card fraud, and identity theft

WESTPORT – Dawn Johnson, 52, from Philadelphia, was arrested on June 2 in connection with a 2018 wallet theft at Panera Bread on Post Road East.

The theft occurred in July 2018 when a wallet was taken from a purse left unattended on a chair. Later that day, the victim’s credit cards were used illegally at several stores in Trumbull. Police subsequently recovered a bag containing stolen items.

Johnson was identified through surveillance footage, search warrants, and coordinated law enforcement efforts. She faces charges including larceny, payment card fraud, conspiracy to commit payment card fraud, payment card theft, conspiracy to commit payment card theft, and identity theft.

She was arrested at Lehigh County Prison in Allentown, PA, transferred to Westport Police Department, charged, and held on a $50,000 bond. Johnson was arraigned on June 3 at Stamford Superior Court.
