BOONE COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) — Nearly five months after a 46-year-old man died from a drug overdose, Davidia Lovett, 41, of Rockford, is facing charges related to his death.
On July 25, 2024, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on N. State Street in Poplar Grove for a report of an unresponsive man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Boone County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy confirmed that the man’s cause of death was a drug overdose.
Following an investigation, Lovett was arrested on Dec. 15, 2024, after she was identified as a suspect in the case. She has been charged with one count of drug-induced homicide and one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
Lovett appeared in court on Dec. 17, where a judge agreed to keep her detained in the Boone County Jail while awaiting further proceedings. She is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 15, 2025.
If convicted on both charges, Lovett faces up to 37 years in prison.
