EASTMAN, Georgia – Two suspects arrested in connection with a violent armed robbery at the Hop In store in Eastman last month are now facing additional charges in a separate homicide investigation in Lumber City.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), 21-year-old David Walker of Hawkinsville and 19-year-old Sharonda Guyton have been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery in the shooting death of Dwayne Clark in Lumber City.

The homicide charges come just weeks after the pair were arrested in Eastman for their alleged roles in an August 13 armed robbery. According to Eastman Police, the robbery occurred around 1 a.m., when a man brandished a firearm, forced a store clerk behind the counter, and demanded all the cash in the register.

Following a joint investigation with the GBI, David Walker was arrested and initially charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and false imprisonment.

Sharonda Guyton was also arrested and charged with armed robbery and making false statements and writings.

With the new homicide charges, both suspects now face a growing list of serious offenses spanning multiple jurisdictions. Authorities have not yet released further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding Dwayne Clark’s death.

The investigations remain ongoing, and officials say additional charges or arrests may follow as evidence continues to be reviewed.
