SPOKANE, Wash. – David Velasquez Jr., 32, has been sentenced to 200 months (approximately 16 years and 8 months) in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy involving the distribution of fentanyl in Eastern Washington.
Velasquez was identified by the FBI in November 2022 as a significant supplier of illegal drugs in the region. He worked with David Fulmer to transport fentanyl-laced pills from Arizona to Eastern Washington, distributing at least 10,000 pills per meeting.
On October 13, 2023, Velasquez was arrested in Iowa after being tracked by the FBI. Authorities discovered 39,095 fentanyl pills and three loaded handguns in his vehicle.
In addition to his prison sentence, Velasquez will serve five years of supervised release. Acting U.S. Attorney Barker emphasized the importance of holding drug traffickers accountable to protect communities.
David Fulmer, Velasquez’s collaborator, has also been arrested and sentenced for his involvement in the drug trafficking operation.
