David “Poppy” Franklin Faces State Drug Charges After Arrest

Glasgow man caught with cocaine, meth, and marijuana

David “Poppy” Franklin Arrested in Glasgow, Faces State and Federal Drug Charges

GLASGOW, Ky. — A Glasgow man who was initially arrested on a federal warrant now faces additional state drug charges after authorities discovered drugs and cash during and after his arrest.

According to the Barren River Drug Task Force, agents alongside officers from the Glasgow Police Department arrested David “Poppy” Franklin, 45, on Sunday outside a store on Lexington Drive.

Franklin was sitting in a vehicle when officers detected the odor of marijuana, prompting a search. Police say they found two bags of marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Following the initial search, authorities obtained a search warrant for Franklin’s residence, where they allegedly discovered a large quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine, along with additional marijuana, pills, drug paraphernalia, and more cash.

Franklin was booked into Warren County Regional Jail on the federal warrant. He now also faces the following state charges in Barren County:

First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine, second offense)

Trafficking in marijuana (over 8 oz. but under 5 lbs., second offense)

Third-degree possession of a controlled substance

Possession of drug paraphernalia

No court date has been announced. The investigation remains ongoing.
