HOLLY HILL, Fla. — David R. McKeown, 47, a sixth-grade teacher at UBIC Academy in Holly Hill, was arrested Friday after an investigation uncovered possession of child pornography and involvement in sexual activities with animals, according to Holly Hill Police Department.

The probe began in early June following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Police executed search warrants at McKeown’s home and workplace, seizing electronic devices and other evidence for forensic analysis.

With support from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Cyber Crimes Task Force and the State Attorney General’s Office, authorities obtained a warrant for McKeown’s social media accounts. Investigators found 19 images depicting child sexual abuse and six images involving sexual acts with animals.

Attorney General James Uthmeier condemned McKeown’s actions, stating, “As a teacher, parents trusted Mr. McKeown with their children. Instead, he betrayed that trust by engaging in horrific acts and sharing students’ personal information with others.”

Further investigation revealed that McKeown shared students’ photos and private data and reportedly used artificial intelligence tools to create child pornography. Additionally, McKeown was found to have produced animal pornography by abusing the family pet.

He faces 25 counts including possession of child pornography and sexual activities involving animals. McKeown is currently held at Volusia County Branch Jail without bond as the case continues.
