FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Fairfax County police have arrested a Maryland man in connection with a string of tire and rim thefts throughout the county.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), officers responded to the Extended Stay hotel at 12055 Route 50 in Fair Oaks on October 24, 2025, after a guest reported all the tires had been stolen from his vehicle.

Detectives linked the suspect’s vehicle to numerous tire thefts across the district. On February 1, 2026, Town of Herndon officers located the vehicle after a license plate reader alert near Dranesville Road and Herndon Parkway, leading to the driver’s detention.

FCPD detectives identified 42-year-old David McCalop of Maryland as the suspect. Investigators linked him to seven additional thefts at hotels in the Fair Oaks area between October 24, 2025, and January 7, 2026.

McCalop now faces eight counts of grand larceny, eight counts of larceny with intent to sell, and eight counts of conspiracy to commit larceny. Police continue to investigate potential links to other reported thefts in the area.
