POLK COUNTY, FL — A 29-year-old man from Brandon, David Martinez Santiesteban, has been arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a string of lottery ticket thefts from a convenience store in south Lakeland.

The thefts occurred on August 24th, 28th, 29th, and 30th, totaling $785 worth of lottery tickets stolen. After the store implemented new security measures, a fifth attempted theft on September 3rd was thwarted.

Detectives Arcila and Evans investigated the incidents and identified Santiesteban as the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, and on September 5th, Santiesteban turned himself in at the PCSO Southwest District Office, where he admitted to the crimes.

He has been charged with:

4 counts of Burglary

4 counts of Petit Theft

Due to his crossing county lines to commit the burglaries, Santiesteban’s charges were enhanced one degree, as allowed under Florida law.
