LSU Facility Manager David Kleinpeter Arrested for Equipment Theft

BATON ROUGE, La. — A facility manager at LSU’s Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD) has been arrested by campus police after being accused of stealing university property over several months.

According to LSU Police, David Thomas Kleinpeter was taken into custody Monday morning. He is accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of gasoline and pressure washing equipment from the university.

An audit revealed that Kleinpeter had been using a university-issued gas card to purchase more fuel than necessary for the mower he used weekly to maintain the facility grounds. Investigators also discovered that he had taken LSU-owned pressure washing equipment to his home.

Kleinpeter faces one count of felony theft over $1,000. The investigation remains ongoing.
