David Jonathan Gates Arrested for Hanover Gas Station Shooting

Three suspects charged after attempted murder in Indiana

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place at a Circle K gas station in Hanover, Indiana, early Monday morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Officers responded to the shooting call at around 12:01 a.m. on September 8. Upon arrival, they found 40-year-old Michael Wayne Eden suffering from an upper body gunshot wound. Eden was airlifted by PHI Air Medical to UofL Hospital, where he remains in stable condition in the intensive care unit.

The investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from an altercation at a residence on West New Brethel Road in Lexington, Indiana.

Police identified 42-year-old David Jonathan Gates as the shooter. Gates was found hiding in a trailer in Clark County and arrested. He is charged with attempted murder and held on a $1 million bond.

Two additional suspects were arrested: David Eugene Thacker, 56, faces obstruction of justice and false informing charges, while Nikisha Deanna Richardson, 39, is charged with assisting a criminal, obstruction of justice, and false informing.
