A 64-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was arrested in Gloucester Township, New Jersey, after authorities say he attempted to use a fake ID in a scheme to fraudulently transfer more than $87,000.

According to police, officers were called to a Fulton Bank branch along the 1400 block of Blackwood Clementon Road at approximately 12:52 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2026.

Authorities said the suspect, identified as David Hutton, 64, of Houston, Texas, tried to impersonate a bank account holder using a false driver’s license. Hutton allegedly attempted to transfer $87,500 out of the victim’s account.

Thanks to the vigilance of bank employees and police intervention, the transaction was stopped, and no money was taken from the victim.

Hutton was arrested and charged with forgery, attempted theft by deception, and other related offenses. Authorities said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
