David Deandre Lowe Arrested in Oconee County Drug Bust

Over a Pound of Meth & Stolen Excavator Recovered

WALHALLA, S.C. – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Deandre Lowe, 37, of Decatur, Georgia, on multiple charges, including meth trafficking and receiving stolen goods, after finding over a pound of meth inside a sedan.

Lowe was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Thursday afternoon, with a hold placed on him by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia.

Incident Details
Deputies responded to a business on E. Fairplay Boulevard in Fair Play, S.C., regarding a stolen Kubota KX040-4 excavator reported missing from a Dekalb County, Georgia, job site. Upon arrival, they found Lowe sitting on the excavator as it was being unloaded from a tow truck. A second man and a woman in a Hyundai sedan were also present.

When deputies questioned Lowe, he attempted to flee, but officers quickly detained him. During the investigation, deputies smelled marijuana coming from the sedan. A search of the vehicle revealed:

Over a pound of methamphetamine
Marijuana (some found in the woman’s purse)
A handgun
Charges and Investigation
Lowe was charged with:

Trafficking methamphetamine
Receiving stolen goods
Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
The excavator, valued at approximately $60,000, was returned to its rightful owner. The Hyundai sedan was towed, and the woman was issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana before being released.

Lowe remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing, and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation.
