Sidney, Ky. — A Pike County man, David Collins, 57, of Belfry, has been arrested after police received help from the public in solving the theft of a $3,000 air compressor.
The incident occurred early on Saturday morning when a Sidney resident reported that his air compressor had been stolen the previous night. The suspect had been on the property for two consecutive days, and on the second day, he took the air compressor, causing additional property damage in the process.
Kentucky State Police public information officer Michael Coleman shared security camera footage of the suspect on Facebook, which led to an anonymous tip identifying Collins as the thief.
When police arrived at Collins’ home to investigate, they noticed the truck seen in the footage parked in his garage, with the stolen air compressor behind it. Upon questioning, Collins allegedly admitted to the theft.
Collins has been arrested and charged with felony theft, trespassing, and criminal mischief. He is currently being held at the Pike County Detention Center.
