A 36-year-old man from Primghar, David Charles Barber, was arrested on March 6 following an O’Brien County warrant for second-offense possession of methamphetamine. The arrest occurred around 7 p.m. after Barber was found in possession of the drug earlier that day.
According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Barber had been transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for a mental health evaluation at approximately 12:45 p.m. During the course of the day, law enforcement discovered that Barber had meth in his possession.
In addition to the drug charge, Barber was also charged with violation of parole after he failed to complete a substance abuse evaluation that had been scheduled twice but was not attended. Barber is also accused of committing seven GPS monitoring violations since his release from prison on February 10.
Barber was uncooperative with deputies during his arrest and, upon arrival at the county jail in Primghar, he continued to resist. Court documents state that Barber had to be placed in a padded cell due to his disruptive behavior.
