David Caldwell Sentenced for Multiple Shop Thefts in Ipswich

Man pleads guilty to seven thefts totaling over £2,000 in Ipswich town centre

Over the weekend, officers from Ipswich police station were conducting patrols around the town when they were alerted to a recent theft. Acting quickly, they identified and located the suspect within a short time.

A 46-year-old man, David Caldwell, with no fixed address, was arrested on Museum Street and charged with seven counts of shop theft.

Caldwell appeared at the next available court, where he pleaded guilty to seven thefts committed between May 6 and 14 in Ipswich town centre. The stolen goods were valued at over £2,000.

Following his guilty plea, Caldwell was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison.
