NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A traffic stop for an unregistered vehicle led to the arrest of 33-year-old David Buckler of Lebanon, after deputies discovered six ounces of methamphetamine during a K9 search, according to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stopped Buckler’s Saturn sedan in the early hours of Nov. 9, after its registration did not return from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). While Buckler searched for proof of insurance, deputies conducted a K9 “free air sniff,” which alerted to the presence of drugs.
A search of Buckler and the vehicle revealed approximately six ounces of methamphetamine, which he allegedly tried to hide. Authorities said the vehicle was neither registered nor insured.
Buckler was charged with:
Operating an unregistered vehicle
Failure to maintain required insurance
Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
He was booked into the Nelson County Jail on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled for a pre-trial conference at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 10.
Deputies said the investigation into the case remains ongoing.
