Dattaraj Pednekar Arrested for Renting Vehicle Used in Goa Drug Smuggling

Two-wheeler rented to Nigerian national caught with drugs worth Rs 40,000

Goa: In a significant drug enforcement action, Pernem police arrested Dattaraj Pednekar (38) for renting his two-wheeler to a Nigerian national allegedly involved in smuggling drugs in Goa. The Nigerian accused, Ugochukwu Solomon Ubabuko (43), was apprehended near Old Ferry Point on October 14 with ganja and ecstasy valued at Rs 40,000.

Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta revealed that the investigation showed Pednekar rented his motorcycle to Ubabuko without verifying his identity or keeping any rental documentation. Pednekar has been charged under Section 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for permitting property use in drug-related crimes.

Ubabuko, a history sheeter with nine previous cases, is currently under further investigation by Goa police.
