Daryl Taylor, 33, is scheduled to stand trial in February 2024, facing seven charges related to child sex offences. He appeared at Ipswich Crown Court via video link on Friday, where he denied all the sex offence charges but admitted to escaping police custody while being held at Ipswich Hospital on 11 August.

Taylor, who has no fixed address but is believed to be from the Ipswich area, was charged with the offences, along with the escape. Judge Emma Peters confirmed that his trial would begin on 3 February and is expected to last five days.

Following his escape, a manhunt was initiated, and Crimestoppers offered a £5,000 reward for information leading to his capture. Three days later, Taylor was apprehended in Rendlesham, and three other men were arrested on suspicion of aiding his escape.
