BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at Martin Auto Mart on June 25, while law enforcement continues the search for the shooter.
Darris Allen, now in custody at Warren County Regional Jail, is charged with murder by complicity in the death of Robert Dark, who was found shot multiple times in his office at the auto dealership.
According to a criminal complaint, Allen was a business partner of the victim at a recently closed restaurant. Just an hour before the shooting, Dark had reportedly spoken on the phone with an unidentified caller. Around 12:30 p.m., police were called to the scene, where Dark was found slumped in his office chair with a gunshot wound to the arm and other injuries to his upper body. EMS attempted life-saving measures but he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told investigators they heard eight gunshots followed by a man exiting the business. Surveillance footage from a nearby establishment showed an unidentified male entering and exiting Martin Auto Mart around the time of the shooting.
Further investigation revealed a Cadillac parked a short distance away from the scene, which was linked to a relative of Darris Allen. Additional surveillance analysis confirmed Allen was the driver of that vehicle.
Allen is being held on a $500,000 bond, while Bowling Green police continue to search for the unidentified man seen on video at the scene.
