Port St. Lucie, FL – A 27-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly sneaking into a home and taking a photo of a woman just after she stepped out of the shower.
Darrian James Baker, who recently moved to Port St. Lucie from Miami, was identified by police as the suspect in a disturbing home burglary incident that occurred Monday morning on SE Gidding Road.
According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD), the female victim reported seeing an unknown man inside her home taking a photo of her after she had exited the shower. She screamed, prompting the man to flee. Her husband, who was asleep, woke up during the commotion and also caught a glimpse of the suspect running from the residence.
Later that day, a second woman recognized Baker from a social media post and checked her own surveillance footage. The video showed the same man attempting to enter her vehicle and residence on SE Deming Avenue at around 4 a.m. that morning.
Police canvassed the area and located Baker at a home on SE Portillo Road. He matched the description from the videos, including wearing a white shirt that read “Don’t Give Up.” A search of the home uncovered two phones and the shirt seen in the footage.
Investigators determined Baker had seen the first victim on SE Gidding Road, found her attractive, and then unlawfully entered her home through an unlocked door. He had previously attempted to break into the second victim’s home and vehicle but was stopped by a locked door.
Charges against Baker include:
Burglary of an occupied dwelling
Attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling
Attempted burglary of an unoccupied conveyance
Baker is currently being held at the St. Lucie County Jail with no bond.
