NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Detectives with the North Charleston Police Department have charged 33-year-old Darrell Kasey Williams as an accessory in connection with a 2020 murder case.
Williams was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center on Monday, August 25, after being transported from federal prison in Bennettsville, South Carolina. According to NCPD, Williams allegedly used a contraband cell phone while incarcerated to hire and pay Quinton Taylor to kill De’Andre Rivers in May 2020.
Investigators say Williams made calls arranging the murder in April and May of that year.
De’Andre Rivers, a Goose Creek native, was found shot to death in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked on Gullah Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. on May 6, 2020. Taylor was arrested days later and charged with Rivers’ murder, though his case has yet to go to trial.
