LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested 54-year-old Darrell Smith on Sunday afternoon in connection with approximately $50,000 worth of stolen items, including a trailer and tools.

The owner, David Phillips, reported the trailer and tools stolen shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday and filed a stolen property complaint with LCSO. Based on an anonymous tip, deputies located Smith around 3:40 p.m. on McWhorter Road.

According to an arrest citation, Smith claimed that at around 2 a.m. on August 22, an unknown person dropped off the trailer and tools at his home. However, he admitted to deputies that he knew the items were stolen and that he should not have possessed them.

The estimated value of the stolen property is around $50,000. Smith was arraigned Monday morning on charges related to stolen property.
