In a major crime bust in Mangaldai, Darrang police arrested two notorious burglars, Altaf Hussain (26) of Kanaichuba village and Durlav Das (27) of Howly Mohanpur village, recovering nearly 34 grams of stolen gold ornaments worth over three lakh rupees.
Inspector Chandan Jyoti Bora, Officer-In-Charge of Mangaldai police station, said the duo was caught from their homes on Saturday night, with the stolen valuables recovered during the operation.
Altaf Hussain, employed at a furniture house, is a known criminal, while Durlav Das works as a rickshaw puller. Both were presented in court on Sunday and remanded to judicial custody.
