LIVE OAK, TEXAS — A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the June 4 shooting death of Albert Roy, 29, outside his home in the 6500 block of Ashby Point.

According to an arrest affidavit, Darius Gladney was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Friday. He is charged with engaging in organized criminal activity — murder.

The shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Witnesses reported seeing four masked individuals dressed in black clothing, gloves, and masks open fire on Roy as he exited his residence. Roy attempted to flee but was fatally shot and found in front of a nearby home.

Police recovered numerous spent shell casings from different calibers at the scene, and nearby vehicles were also hit by bullets.

Shortly after the shooting, a black and tan Ford pickup truck believed to be used by the shooters was found abandoned in Selma. The vehicle had been reported stolen, according to the affidavit.

A witness later informed authorities that they saw the pickup truck speeding alongside a red Dodge Caliber the morning of the incident. License plate reader cameras captured the two vehicles traveling seconds apart.

Investigators linked the Dodge to Gladney’s partner and confirmed through apartment staff at the Villas at Mira Loma that Gladney drove the vehicle regularly. Surveillance footage showed the stolen pickup entering the complex using Gladney’s personal access code two days before the shooting. On the morning of the murder, staff noted Gladney appeared “discombobulated” and was acting strangely.

Gladney is accused of helping the shooters escape and discard the stolen pickup, according to investigators. He has been charged but no other arrests have been made in connection with Albert Roy’s death as of Sunday.
