FLORENCE, S.C. (WPDE) — A shooting at a Cook-Out restaurant in Florence on Sunday resulted in the arrest of two individuals, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sheriff T.J. Joye stated that the incident began as a verbal dispute between a customer and an employee, both of whom then pulled out weapons. Investigators say 23-year-old Daquan Markel Brown entered the Cook-Out on South Irby Street and shot 17-year-old Eugene Travis McClease, Jr., a Cook-Out employee.
In response, McClease allegedly fired back, shooting Brown as he attempted to leave the scene. Brown was treated for a gunshot wound and later released from medical care.
Both Brown and McClease have been arrested and face charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. No bond has been set for either suspect at this time.
