MULDROW, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has assisted the Van Buren Police Department in the arrest of five individuals in connection with a homicide involving a man whose body was later discovered in the Arkansas River.
According to OSBI, Van Buren police officers recovered a deceased individual from the river on Nov. 14, 2025. The victim was identified as Derek Marshall, 30. An autopsy revealed Marshall had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Medical examiners determined that Marshall was killed earlier, on Nov. 5, 2025, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, before his body was disposed of across state lines.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities arrested Danny Goad, 59, who has been charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction.
Three others — Jason Quick, 46; Jerry Pratt, 56; and Rhonda Jeremiah, 56 — were arrested and charged with accessory after the fact in connection with the killing.
A fifth suspect, Nathern England, 56, was also taken into custody and charged with obstructing an officer.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence related to the case.
