Jharkhand Police have cracked a high-profile murder case in the Tamar police station area, arresting two individuals involved in the killing of Pramila Devi. The accused deliberately ran over her body with a car to stage it as a road accident.
The case came to light after Kareena Devi, daughter of Pramila Devi, filed a complaint stating that her mother had gone to Naseem Qureshi’s house in Kantatoli on August 24 but never returned. Pramila’s mobile phone was found switched off, raising suspicions.
Following the complaint, Ranchi Rural SP formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Bundu SDPO, which used technical inputs to trace and arrest Danish Qureshi, son of Naseem Qureshi, and his driver Mohd Saud Qazi from Edalhatu in Bundu on August 27.
During interrogation, Danish confessed to orchestrating the murder. Police said Danish revealed that his father Naseem and Pramila had been involved in a long-standing illicit relationship, which frequently caused disputes. Danish decided to end the issue by killing Pramila.
On August 24, Danish reportedly lured Pramila into his car, gave her alcohol, and strangled her when she was intoxicated. The body was then dumped near Uliidih on the Tata-Ranchi main road, where the accused drove a Scorpio over it to mimic a road accident. Driver Saud Qazi assisted in the crime.
Police have seized the Scorpio used in the murder. Danish Qureshi has a criminal record with several cases registered against him at Adki and Lower Bazaar police stations.
The investigation team includes Tamar Police Station In-charge Praveen Kumar Modi, SI Shambhu Pandit, ASI Ajay Pratap, and armed personnel. The probe continues.
