Daniel Vargas Sentenced 10 Years for Drug Crimes

Myrtle Beach man convicted of meth, fentanyl charges

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — Daniel Vargas, 33, of Myrtle Beach, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug distribution charges, officials said.

Vargas admitted to second-offense possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and first-offense possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Circuit Court Judge David P. Caraker imposed concurrent 10-year sentences for both offenses.

The methamphetamine conviction counts as a serious offense under South Carolina’s “three strike rule” for repeat offenders. Vargas was initially arrested on May 8 after Horry County Police executed a search warrant at his home, seizing over 400 grams of methamphetamine.

He was later arrested on Dec. 24, 2024, by Myrtle Beach police for the fentanyl charge following a brief vehicle chase. Vargas had been scheduled for trial during the week of Dec. 8 before entering his guilty plea.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor David Beamer for the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
