SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — A Southern Pines man has been arrested and charged with ten counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, following an investigation by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the suspect as Daniel Rowley, 39, of Southern Pines. The investigation began after probation officers with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections flagged concerns, prompting coordination with the Sheriff’s Office Forensics Specialists.

Rowley, who has been a registered sex offender since June 2025 following prior convictions for two counts of sexual battery, was taken into custody on Jan. 8. He is being held at the Moore County Detention Center under a $750,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on Jan. 28.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office participates in the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (NCICAC) Task Force, which investigates cases involving child exploitation.

All charges remain allegations, and Rowley is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
