PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Federal authorities have arrested a 32-year-old Washington man allegedly linked to the car bombing of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California. Daniel Park was taken into custody at New York City’s JFK Airport and charged with providing and attempting to provide material support to a terrorist.
Park is accused of aiding 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus, who carried out the May 2025 attack at the American Reproductive Centers facility. Four people were injured and Bartkus was killed in the blast, which investigators now believe was an act of domestic terrorism motivated by a fringe ideology.
According to U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, Park visited Bartkus in 29 Palms earlier this year, where the pair allegedly conducted explosive experiments in Bartkus’ garage. FBI agents later recovered chemicals and lab equipment from the residence.
Authorities say Park shipped explosive precursors to Bartkus, with the final package arriving just days before the attack. After the bombing, Park traveled to Poland and was arrested by Polish authorities on May 30. He was deported to the United States and is now being held on federal terrorism charges.
A cellphone found at the scene helped link Park to the crime. A criminal complaint states he used an AI chatbot to research bomb-making techniques shortly before the attack. A search of his home in Kent, Washington revealed additional explosive materials.
Attorney General Pam Bondi praised international cooperation that led to Park’s arrest: “Bringing chaos and violence to a facility that helps women and mothers is a particularly cruel, disgusting crime… We will prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.”
Authorities allege the bombing was ideologically driven by a “pro-mortalism” belief system that opposes human reproduction and views death as preferable to life. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the case is being treated as domestic terrorism: “This attack could have killed innocent people. We’re thankful for our partners in Poland and committed to holding extremists accountable.”
No embryos at the facility were harmed in the explosion, according to officials.
