WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man was arrested following an investigation into a gunfire incident at an apartment complex on January 26, 2025.
At approximately 12:19 a.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to reports of gunshots at an apartment complex on the unit block of Cheswold Boulevard. Residents had reported hearing a gunshot followed by the sound of breaking glass. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a bullet hole in a ceiling and wall and later located a projectile within the apartment.
Further investigation led officers to the apartment of 31-year-old Daniel Morrison, where a search warrant was executed. Authorities reported discovering a recently repaired section of wall that appeared to have been spackled to conceal bullet damage. In addition, officers recovered a handgun, a rifle, and an open container of spackle from the residence.
Morrison was taken into custody and charged with six felony counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one felony count of tampering with physical evidence.
Following his arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 11, Morrison was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $39,000 secured bail.
Authorities remind the public that Morrison is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and the investigation is ongoing.
