Two men were arrested in Florence, South Carolina, on Tuesday following a chase that led to a significant drug bust. The Florence Police Department reports that Danell Titus, 40, and Roderick Titus, 44, were apprehended after leading officers on a pursuit that ended on Buckingham Road.
According to the Florence Police Department, the Special Investigations Unit attempted a traffic stop at the intersection of West Lucas Street and North Irby Street. However, Danell Titus, the driver, did not stop and continued to flee from officers. As the vehicle approached Iola Jones Park and Williams Middle School, Roderick Titus, the passenger, was seen throwing large amounts of suspected cocaine out of the vehicle.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped on Buckingham Road, and both men were arrested. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered 7.1 grams of cocaine base, and 60 grams of cocaine were found discarded along the route.
Danell Titus faces multiple charges, including driving under suspension, failure to stop for blue lights, trafficking in cocaine (28 grams or more), manufacturing and distributing cocaine base, and distribution of controlled substances near a school. Roderick Titus has been charged with trafficking cocaine (28 grams or more), manufacturing and distributing cocaine base, and distribution of controlled substances near a school.
Both individuals are currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center.
