DAVENPORT, Iowa – A Davenport man was arrested Tuesday night after police discovered a stolen firearm in his vehicle.

Incident Details
On March 25 at approximately 9:52 p.m., Davenport Police responded to a report of a person with a firearm in the parking lot at 101 Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers identified Damon Lee Kingsley III, 22, as the individual in question. His truck was parked nearby, and after granting police permission to search it, officers found a loaded 9mm pistol in a holster under the driver’s seat.

Stolen Firearm & Investigation
Authorities determined that the firearm had been reported stolen out of Rock Island.

Kingsley admitted to purchasing the gun for $300 from a neighbor of a friend, despite its actual value being $600. Police allege that he contributed to firearms trafficking, as a reasonable person would suspect the gun was stolen.

Charges & Legal Proceedings
Kingsley was arrested and charged with:

Felony trafficking of stolen weapons

Misdemeanor fourth-degree theft

He was later released on a $6,000 secured bond and is now awaiting his initial court appearance.
