Birmingham, Ala. — Damien Laron McDaniel, 22, has been charged in connection with 14 murders across Alabama, including the deaths of firefighter Jordan Melton, 21-year-old Mia Nickson, and UPS employee Anthony Love, Jr.

McDaniel was previously charged with the deaths of 11 others in two major mass shootings that took place in Five Points South and Trendsetters Lounge in 2024. Officials have called the case one of the most violent in Birmingham’s history.

Along with the prior charges, McDaniel is now facing new murder charges related to the deaths of Nickson and Love. Authorities say these new charges stem from murder-for-hire cases. In addition to these charges, McDaniel is also accused of the attempted murder of a second firefighter, Jamal Jones.

The investigation into McDaniel’s alleged crimes continues, with authorities working to uncover further details surrounding his violent actions.
