ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A man and woman were arrested early Sunday following a violent altercation with another couple at the Quarter at Tropicana, according to the Atlantic City Police Department.
Officers Jose Zamorano and Moustafa Maarouf responded to the scene at approximately 2:56 a.m. on September 15, where they found evidence of a physical fight involving multiple people.
Police say 35-year-old Damian Pineyro allegedly began the incident by harassing a couple before punching the female victim in the face. After she fell, he reportedly assaulted her partner and threatened him with a knife, although no stabbing occurred.
Meanwhile, 47-year-old Keila Diaz is accused of repeatedly kicking and punching the female victim, who lost consciousness during the assault. She was later transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Pineyro faces multiple charges, including:
Aggravated assault
Unlawful possession of a weapon
Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
Terroristic threats
Diaz was charged with:
Aggravated assault
Simple assault
Both suspects were released on a summons and are scheduled for a future court appearance. Authorities have not disclosed a motive behind the attack.
