Daly City Man Rhod Robles Arrested for $15K Check Theft

Suspect Caught After Depositing Stolen Marin County Check

by Sophia Bennett

A Daly City man was arrested on August 28 for stealing a $15,265.80 check made out to a Marin County Office of Education account, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Marin County Treasurer’s Office had reported the check stolen from the mail on June 7. It was subsequently deposited into an unrecognized Chase bank account in San Francisco.

Following an investigation, authorities identified 20-year-old Rhod Robles as the suspect who deposited the fraudulent check.

Chase Bank quickly flagged the transaction as fraudulent, and the Treasurer’s Office was able to recover the full amount. Robles was unable to withdraw any funds before they were removed from his account.

Detectives served a search warrant at Robles’ Daly City residence, recovering additional evidence related to the case. Robles was booked into Marin County Jail on theft and fraud charges.
