Dalton Wolf Thompson Arrested in Oakland Neighborhood Fatal Shooting

One man dead, another hospitalized in Topeka’s 17th homicide of 2025

TOPEKA (KSNT) — One person has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in Topeka’s Oakland neighborhood.

The Topeka Police Department (TPD) arrested Dalton Wolf Thompson, 28, of Topeka, on Thursday, Sept. 4. He faces the following charges:

First-degree murder

Attempted first-degree murder

Aggravated battery

Officers responded to the 1000 block of NE Poplar Street, where they found two male victims with life-threatening gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

This marks the 17th homicide investigation in Topeka for the year 2025.

The investigation remains active, and police say additional details will be released as they become available.
