JEFFERSON COUNTY, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Dakota Taylor, 21, of Wrens, Georgia, in connection with the death of her 8-month-old child.
Taylor faces charges of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and First-Degree Cruelty to Children. The investigation began on January 8, 2025, after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office requested GBI assistance regarding the death of the infant in Matthews, Georgia.
Preliminary reports indicate that the child was found unresponsive at a residence on Mt. Moriah Road in Matthews and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
At the time of her arrest on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Taylor was already being held at the McDuffie County Jail on separate charges related to another child death investigation in DeKalb County, Georgia.
The case will be forwarded to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution once the investigation is complete.
