GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A Gainesville woman has been arrested for financial fraud and exploitation of an elderly person following a two-week investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

Authorities say Daja LaPrincess Hill, 29, was taken into custody on Tuesday after investigators linked her to $2,720.95 in unauthorized transactions made using the debit card of a 74-year-old male cancer patient.

The investigation began on May 13 when the victim reported the suspicious charges. After reviewing his account with his wife and their bank, they discovered that funds had been transferred to a PayPal account without their consent.

HCSO tracked the PayPal account to Hill, who was arrested at a hotel on Lanier Islands Parkway. Investigators confirmed that Hill knew the victim personally.

She now faces charges of felony financial transaction card fraud and exploitation of an elderly person. Hill is being held in the Hall County Jail on a $12,700 bond, with an additional hold from Newton County.

The case underscores ongoing concerns about elder exploitation and digital financial fraud, particularly targeting vulnerable individuals.
