Dabwali police claimed a major success in their ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking with the arrest of four accused and the seizure of 503 grams of heroin and 2.754 kilograms of opium, valued at around Rs1.14 crore, in two separate operations. A car used in the drug transport was also confiscated.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandeep Dhankhar said that teams from the CIA Staff, Kalanwali, and the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), Dabwali, conducted the operations targeting drug smugglers.

On March 10, a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dilawar Singh received a tip-off that three individuals were transporting a large heroin consignment from Punjab. A vehicle traveling from Bathinda was stopped near the Bharatmala bridge on the Dabwali–Kalanwali road. Despite attempts to evade, the car stalled, and police detained the occupants: Jagmeet Singh, Malkit Singh, and Bhagwan Singh alias Fauji. During a search, 503 grams of heroin were recovered from a black polythene bag near the gear lever.

In a separate operation on the night of March 10–11, the ANC team, led by ASI Ranjodh Singh, intercepted Deepa Singh from Kanakwal alias Ratangarh, Bathinda district. Acting on intelligence, police set up a checkpoint near Takhtmal railway crossing in Kalanwali. A young man carrying an attache attempted to flee but was apprehended. The attache contained 2.754 kilograms of opium.

DSP Dhankhar emphasized that the arrests mark a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking in the region, and further investigations are underway to trace the source and networks of the narcotics.
