The Dumka police arrested inter-district cybercriminal Ghanshyam Mandal and his four aides on Sunday after uncovering a widespread cyber fraud network operating in several police station areas of Dumka and Godda districts.
Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar revealed that cases of cybercrime had been rising notably in areas including Hansdiha, Taljhari, Ramgarh, and Saraiyahat. A thorough investigation exposed that Mandal, a BTech graduate, had masterminded a strong network behind multiple cyber frauds.
Significantly, the Pratibimb app aided the police in tracking down Mandal. He faces nine cybercrime cases registered in various police stations including Ramgarh, Jama, Muffassil, Shikaripara in Dumka, and Town and Muffassil in Godda district.
Following Mandal’s confession, authorities arrested four of his aides: Harsh Raj Pandey from Lavrati village, Bajrang Mandal from Amda village (both under Ramgarh police station, Dumka), and Prashant Mandal and Bittu Mandal from Kasba and Ghaat Pahadpur villages, respectively, under Muffassil police station in Godda.
Police have also begun probing the assets acquired by the arrested individuals and are calculating the total amount defrauded through their operations.
