in a significant breakthrough, Gurugram police arrested two individuals accused of operating a cyber fraud network. The duo, Kundan Patel and Ranjit Kumar, allegedly duped people under the guise of increasing their credit card limits. Authorities revealed that the fraud network was primarily active in Bihar, with operations extending to various parts of the state.

The accused, both from Bihar, were apprehended in Udyog Vihar on Wednesday, following an investigation into multiple fraudulent activities. Besides the credit card fraud, the pair were also involved in scams related to setting up mobile towers, gas agencies, petrol pumps, and Patanjali shops.

According to police sources, Patel and Kumar confessed to running at least five fraud schemes under the pretext of increasing credit card limits. Priyanshu Dewan, ACP (Cyber), confirmed that Patel had disclosed the scope of their operations during police remand. The pair targeted rural areas around Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Warisaliganj, and Bihar Sharif, among others.

“We are continuing the investigation and are working to apprehend other members of the network,” Dewan added. Authorities have also seized fake documents and other materials from the accused.

This arrest marks a significant step forward in combating cybercrime in the region, as police remain committed to uncovering and dismantling similar fraud networks.
