MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A father and son are behind bars following the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Jamahl Jackson early Sunday morning in Montgomery. Police responded around 4 a.m. to the scene at Highland Avenue and Hall Street, where they found Jackson dead from a gunshot wound.
Authorities have charged Curtis London Sr., 37, and his son, Curtis London Jr., 19, with capital murder. Both are currently held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
This is not the first time the Londons have been in trouble with the law. Curtis London Jr. pleaded guilty to robbery and assault in 2024, while London Sr. was previously charged with capital murder in 2017 in connection to the death of Marcus Cooley. He later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and served time.
Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver expressed frustration at seeing repeat offenders. “It has become a generational thing,” Oliver said, noting the disturbing trend of families cycling through the criminal justice system. Her office is seeking to revoke London Sr.’s bond, citing the new charges while on supervised release.
The case remains under investigation as police continue to gather evidence.
