AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Two Richmond County men have been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges related to a mail theft and fraud scheme.
Cameron Martinas Curry and Quavaun Enreco Rhodes, both 22 and from Augusta, admitted in May 2025 to using a United States Postal Service collection key to steal mail and commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, both men received 120-month sentences and were ordered to pay a $2,000 fine, $400 in special assessments, and will serve five years of supervised release following their prison terms.
Court documents revealed that Curry and Rhodes obtained the USPS collection key and used it to steal mail from postal drop boxes in the Augusta area. They then altered business checks, deposited them into bank accounts, and quickly withdrew funds before banks could detect the fraud.
“Stealing from the U.S. Mail and defrauding financial institutions are serious crimes that erode public trust,” said Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. “The FBI and our partners will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who abuse federal systems and victimize our communities for personal gain.”
Curry and Rhodes are part of a larger group of five individuals who pleaded guilty in May to various charges involving mail theft, bank fraud, and identity theft.
